If you want the truth, well, you can't handle it, but I'll give it to you anyway. I've actually had these all translated for a while now, but hadn't made them available for download by reason of procrastination only, I assure you. But then we had the house fire, and now the restoration people have my hard drive, and it'll probably never work again. Regardless, this meant that I had to find the mascots again, mainly because filelodge has apparently been in maintenance for a while, meaning that no one's been able to download any of the mascots. Ironically, this was easier said than done, since, according to Google, most people who'd requested the mascots were directed to my journal, of all places. I swear to you all, that was the first time I ever regretted being known on the internet. Anyway! I eventually found them on... er, a site which I refuse to link, which brings me to my next point. I never, ever, ever want to see these hosted on a site that has downloading prerequisites! It's not fair for something so hard to find to have restrictions on it. By restrictions, I mean making someone post on your near-dead forum without it being classified as spam. Haw-haw, really funny. Way to waste my night, Ka- *cough* Anyway, to make everything a little easier, I'm going to add all of the mascots and their descriptions to this post. Okay? Okay. By the way, they've all been rearranged alphabetically by their first names, since there's so many of them.

This last part's important, too: I was only able to translate the dialogue boxes and base menus, but not the outfits. Sadly, I couldn't access that information, no matter how hard I tried. And trust me, I did try.

Anyway, what I'd really like is some feedback on these. Like, in terms of font or wording, that kind of thing.

I know I've said this about a dozen times before, but damn, I hate laptops. I mean, I hate everything about them! I hate leaning over to type on them, I hate having to drag cables everywhere. Really, I just hate them. Rob keeps telling me to "deal with it", that we'll be home in a month, but geeze. This is really a pain, you know? I miss my desktop. Anyway, on to the mascots. These were actually released March of last year, on the 2nd fun disk. I had them lying around on Fatty McBoo since their release, but you guys know me- I'm lazy. So I held off on uploading them, but I can only take so much of people emailing me begging for 'em. In fact, you know, I'm sick of people emailing me! There is a comments section for a reason, you know! But seriously you guys- please, just stop. I get comments emailed to me, so I know if you're asking a question. Sure, I've had extenuating circumstances, but the older mascots are all up, so there's no reason to complain any more. 'kay? 'kay. Let's get going with these things.

I also finished translating all the mascots, if anyone likes their menus, you know, translated. I couldn't manage the outfits, though, because that's totally above my skill level. Anyway, the translated ones will be up soon. Hold tight, yo.

Change outfit is self-explanitory. When you hover over that section you'll be able to see the available outfits, as implied by the arrow. The first selection is always 'random'. The rest go in the order that I've shown above. skipping over 'options' for now, "about" gives out all the version info, that kind of stuff. close all will close every Negi mascot you've got up. It's very loud, but saves a lot of time. I suggest turning off the audio.

The window position bar dictates where on the taskbar or window the mascot will sit. For example, 50% will place a mascot dead center on top of a notepad editor or the start bar. This one's really handy if the mascot's sticking and refuses to go anywhere other than, say, the right or left side of the taskbar (trust me, it happens). Transparency is a newer feature that works only in Windows 2000 or XP. Basically, it changes the alpha transparency of the mascot so it will fade into the background a bit. If they made a Sayo mascot, I'm sure it'd work well xD On that note, I'm also holding a vendetta for not making a Kasumi mascot. The reporter needs more love! *cough* Back on topic. The location bar's a little tricky- at least relatively. Either will cause the mascot to switch back and forth from the current window to the start bar. Clicking on the start menu will cause them to hang around there, clicking on the windows will cause them to hang out there. When you select 'start bar' for the location, the mascot stays fixed no matter what you're doing. It's definitely less memory intensive, that's for sure. Selecting current window makes the mascot follow you around when switching windows. If you're going to do this, I suggest staying away from fully maximized windows. Just sayin'. Finally, selecting 'stay on top' will make the mascot stay on top of all your other windows. when you've got them on the start menu and move a window over them, they will stay ahead of it. When you position mascots over top of each other, they flicker.

Oh noes, another GET!! It's the start of the second part of the mascot spree- the desktop goodies. This time around, we have the Negima clocks. These things, contrary to what they may sound like, are actually quite handy. They come built in with alarms and such. Rebby uses the Fumika clock to wake up in the morning, actually. Yeah, it's crazy. And guess what? THEY'VE GOT KAZUMI! <3
( NegiClock GET!! )</center>Arr, that took such a long time to upload! Well, a lot of stuff is larger in size than the mascots, so I guess it can't be helped (they average 1-1.5 megs apiece). So anyway, I was wondering, does anyone get any use out of these posts? I would put a post here, but unfortunately, LiveJournal is far more punctual when it comes to deactivating paid accounts than activating them. On that note, I'm debating on whether to spend my hard-earned money (see yesterday's post =p) on a video game, a paid account, or a name change... hmm..

And here's another question for everyone... Uh, I'm looking for a game a while back, and could have sworn I bought it (around christmas-time), but I honestly can't remember the title of it. Basically a guy was killed and he went back in time to prevent his own death. Um.. anyone know the name of it?

Wow, two gets in one day! I treat you guys too well. But argh, the Chobits mascots... Well, I won't beat around the bush- I definitely haven't been looking forward to these guys- frankly, I believe they're a waste of time. But I know some of you guys out there are serious Chobits fans, so I suppose it can't be helped. Just be warned that these guys lag hard, and are pretty difficult to work with. None of them have really individual features to speak of, so I'll post the thumbnails and we'll be off. Just as a rundown, they talk (quite a bit), and say different things when you click different parts of their body. For example, Kotoko wigs out pretty hard when you click her head... One more thing- unlike the Negi or Love Hina mascots, none of these are stand-alone programs, and they require additional files- hence the zips.

Wahoo! The Chobits mascots have no 'options' menu! Oh hap- wait a minute... oh god. Oh god no. These things are so complicated, I'm starting to wish they DID have an options menu! No matter, let's get to work...



Hmm, you think. This doesn't look so complicated! What on Earth is this woman spazzing about? What am I spazzing about? Oooh, I'll tell you what I'm spazzing about. These things are so glitchy, they're almost not worth it. Yes, you heard me. A mascot needs to be MORE THAN CUTE! In the cute department, these mascots have got the others beat (I exaggerate. I find the others cuter than these, but conventionally- these rock the socks off the others.) When you first cue these guys up, you'll have to click Move (M). No, these ones don't attach to any windows (initially, anyway)- you must attach them yourself. Clicking move will disable sounds and allow you to move the mascots to your heart's content. Keep on top is obvious- they'll stay on top of everything. A-duhr. Hiding's a little odd, as it can cause these guys to glitch up. Hiding will minimize them to the start bar, where you will have to restore them by clicking on the label once more. Now, I know I have attach to window right there, but chances are, you won't be able to get that option to work when you first start these guys up. Frankly, I can't get that option to work most of the time. I swear, it must be random. Everything else is self-explanatory, so I'll end it here. If you've managed to get these guys to work, congratulations- you're far more patient than I am.

However, not all of them have changable outfits and such; nor does everyone talk. I'll document what everyone does in their misc info. Also, I want to reiterate that these guys are hosted on megaupload- the files will stay up FOREVAR, unless they aren't downloaded within 30 days, in which case they'll be automatically deleted. If this happens, comment to this post and I'll reupload whatever needs to be done.

The Negi and Love Hina menus are almost identical, which is good. That made it easy for me to make these guides, y'know. Now the Chobits ones... oh, those are a story for another day. Ugh. IN ANY CASE. We're gonna do this the same way I did the Negi stuff- go through the normal menu first, then hit the options menu.




Ick, they gave us 'options' on the first go. Uh, we'll go there later. Change outfit will only appear if the character has a different outfit to go to. If they don't, the meny option is simply omitted. It's rather easy to tell- if there's not option that has an arrow off to the side, changes are that the character doesn't have any extra clothes. About is the same as last time, giving out the copyright info and character names. As a small warning (actually, it could be considered a good thing), some of the characters have the options menu translated. Kaolla, I know has it for sure, but I'm not sure about any others. As soon as I figure out how that was done, I'm going to attempt a patch so these guys can get translated or something.




Argh, the options menu! It's basically the same as Negi, once again. Characters are positioned in percentages along the window, which can be changed manually via the window position area. Location is the same as last time- either switches back and forth from the taskbar to the current window; the other two keep it on one selection. Selecting 'stay on top' will prevent the mascot from going under any windows- only problem is overlapping characters, in which case they flicker a lot. Not pictured are two other options- sound and animation. On the characters where this option is present (namely, Kaolla), the option is translated, so it's easy to spot. Otherwise, it's self explanitory- look for the option labelled 'F'.

The location bar's a little tricky- at least relatively. Either will cause the mascot to switch back and forth from the current window to the start bar. Clicking on the start menu will cause them to hang around there, clicking on the windows will cause them to hang out there. When you select 'start bar' for the location, the mascot stays fixed no matter what you're doing. It's definitely less memory intensive, that's for sure. Selecting current window makes the mascot follow you around when switching windows. If you're going to do this, I suggest staying away from fully maximized windows. Just sayin'. Finally, selecting 'stay on top' will make the mascot stay on top of all your other windows. when you've got them on the start menu and move a window over them, they will stay ahead of it. When you position mascots over top of each other, they flicker. Not suggested =X Okay, now THAT was longer than expected.
